Image Guided Biopsies

Image guided biopsies at Florida Radiology Consultants utilize ultrasound and CT technology to achieve precise tissue sampling with minimal discomfort. This advanced technique allows our radiologists to accurately target areas of concern, essential for diagnosing and staging cancers and other diseases.

The real-time imaging guidance minimizes the risk of complications and reduces recovery time, enhancing both the safety and efficacy of the diagnostic process. These procedures are invaluable for accessing difficult-to-reach tissues, supporting effective treatment planning and patient management.

Cancer Treatments

Cancer Treatments

Interventional radiology (IR) provides innovative cancer treatment options that are less invasive than traditional surgery. These treatments use precise imaging techniques to guide small instruments directly to the tumor site. This approach allows for targeted therapies that directly attack the tumor while sparing surrounding healthy tissues, leading to fewer side effects and a quicker recovery. IR treatments can be a preferable option for patients who are looking for effective alternatives to surgery or those whose tumors are not easily accessible by conventional surgical methods.

At Florida Radiology Consultants, our specialized IR cancer treatments include methods such as Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE), Radioembolization (Y90), and thermal Ablation to treat liver and renal tumors. These procedures concentrate the treatment directly on the tumor, minimizing damage to healthy tissues and reducing side effects. We also provide preoperative embolization for musculoskeletal tumors to reduce blood loss during surgery and ablation to shrink tumors and alleviate pain, enhancing surgical outcomes.

Our use of advanced imaging ensures that these treatments are delivered with precision, offering patients a safer procedure and a faster return to daily life.

Vascular Health Radiology Services at Florida Radiology Consultants

Vascular Health

Vascular health is critical to overall well-being, focusing on the health of blood vessels that circulate blood throughout the body. Interventional radiology plays a pivotal role in treating vascular conditions with minimally invasive techniques. These methods utilize precise imaging to guide treatments that address conditions such as aneurysms and vascular malformations, enhancing outcomes with reduced recovery time and discomfort.

We offer state-of-the-art vascular treatments designed to minimize surgical intervention while maximizing results. Our services include embolization techniques for aneurysms, specifically targeting weakened areas within arteries to prevent rupture. This includes procedures for splenic, renal, and pulmonary artery aneurysms, as well as AAA endoleak embolization to treat complications from aortic aneurysm repairs. We also provide specialized care for mesenteric ischemia, a serious condition that occurs when blood flow to the intestines is blocked. Our treatments restore blood flow, reducing the risk of severe complications. Furthermore, we manage vascular malformations—a range of conditions that involve abnormal blood vessels—which can cause significant health issues if untreated.

DVT & Pulmonary Embolism Treatment

DVT and Pulmonary Embolism Treatment

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE) are serious vascular conditions that can pose significant health risks if not treated promptly. DVT occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein, usually in the legs, which can lead to PE if the clot travels to the lungs.

Our advanced imaging techniques guide the precise delivery of treatments for DVT and PE. This includes thrombectomy and venous stenting procedures designed to remove clots and restore normal blood flow efficiently. Thrombectomy involves mechanically extracting the clot from the vein, while stenting helps keep the vein open to prevent future blockages. Additionally, we offer IVC (Inferior Vena Cava) filter placement and removal. These filters are used to catch and prevent clots from traveling to the lungs, providing a critical safeguard for patients at high risk for PE.

Cirrhosis and Variceal Management

Cirrhosis and Variceal Management

Cirrhosis and its complications, such as variceal bleeding, represent significant challenges in medical management. Cirrhosis leads to scarring of the liver, which can cause high blood pressure in the portal vein system, resulting in varices. These varices are prone to bursting, leading to serious bleeding episodes. Interventional radiology (IR) offers a suite of minimally invasive procedures that can manage these conditions effectively, reducing the risks associated with traditional surgery and improving patient outcomes.

At Florida Radiology Consultants, we utilize cutting-edge techniques to manage complications arising from cirrhosis, focusing on reducing the pressure in the portal system and preventing variceal bleeding. Treatments such as Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) and Balloon-Occluded Retrograde Transvenous Obliteration (BRTO) are key procedures we offer. TIPS involves creating a pathway within the liver to reroute blood flow, reducing pressure and preventing bleeding. BRTO, on the other hand, is used to selectively obliterate varices, providing a more targeted approach to managing the risks of hemorrhage. These procedures are guided by high-resolution imaging, ensuring safety and precision throughout the treatment process.

Women's Health

Women’s health often requires specialized care, particularly when dealing with conditions like uterine fibroids or pelvic vein congestion, which can significantly affect quality of life. Interventional radiology (IR) offers effective, minimally invasive solutions for these and other women-specific conditions, using targeted treatments that reduce symptoms and promote faster recovery with minimal downtime.

Our interventional radiology services for women include Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) for the treatment of fibroids and Pelvic Vein Embolization for managing pelvic congestion syndrome. UAE is a highly effective procedure that blocks the blood supply to fibroids, reducing their size and alleviating symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain. Pelvic Vein Embolization addresses varicose veins within the pelvic region, which can cause chronic pain and discomfort. These procedures are performed under imaging guidance, ensuring precision and minimizing impact on surrounding tissues.

Men's Health Interventional Radiology

Men's Health

Men’s health issues, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and varicoceles, can disrupt daily life and cause significant discomfort. Our interventional radiologists use minimally invasive techniques to treat these conditions effectively, improving quality of life with treatments that offer less risk and shorter recovery times compared to traditional surgery.

Florida Radiology Consultants provides Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) for the treatment of BPH, a common condition in older men that involves enlargement of the prostate gland which can affect urinary functions. PAE reduces the size of the prostate by restricting its blood supply, improving urinary symptoms without the need for invasive surgery.

Additionally, we offer Varicocele Embolization, a procedure that alleviates pain and swelling caused by varicoceles by blocking abnormal blood flow to the affected veins. These targeted treatments are designed to be as non-disruptive as possible, allowing patients to return to their normal activities shortly after the procedure.
